** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COMP WILL NOT BE TAKING PLACE! **

One of the competitions at Byte Back 2009 will finally settle those 80's playground arguments once and for all! Which is better - the ZX Spectrum or the Commodore 64? Or was it the much-maligned Amstrad CPC or even the BBC Micro?

We are looking for teams to represent each of these four classic 8-bit home computers, with a maximum of 4 players per team. Each team will then choose a game for their preferred system (which must also be available for the other three) and a nominated player from each team will play each game on their system in an attempt to get the highest score. The team with the best overall ranking over the 4 games will then have their system declared the best of the 8-bits. Of course it is completely unscientific, but so were those playground arguments! ;)

If you are interested in representing one of the four systems, please get in touch ASAP via the website, or post here and see who else may want to join the team with you. The full format and games will be determined later....

Full info about this competition can be found here:

And lets start the battle nice and early with a poll... :D

Unfortunately out of that list I can only pick the one I think was the worst, as 3 of them I think are great machines.

You need to take your mind reading act on tour witchfinder, you'd clean up. :D It's actually difficult to pick between the Spectrum, the Beeb and the C64 as for me there was just so much good stuff on all 3 of them.
